IMPULSE G+ Mini Inverter for Cranes and Hoists

The IMPULSE G+ Mini is a powerful, compact solution designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of cranes, hoists, trolleys, and monorail carriers. Factory preset for basic application programming, this drive allows technicians to easily navigate and program it in minutes, making it an ideal choice for most applications.

Advanced Programming Capabilities

The IMPULSE G+ Mini offers two programming levels: Basic and Advanced. In Basic mode, the drive’s parameter availability and navigation are similar to the IMPULSE P3 Series 2, providing ease of use and simplicity.

In the Advanced access level, the drive opens up its full capacity, offering a deeper range of features and parameters. This mode is perfect for users seeking maximum control, especially for more complex crane and hoist applications. The familiar navigation of up and down arrows provides quick access to the comprehensive features of the IMPULSE G+ Mini.

LOAD CHECK™ II for Enhanced Safety

One of the standout features of the IMPULSE G+ Mini is its integrated LOAD CHECK™ II system. This system continuously monitors hoist overload conditions across the frequency range, preventing upward motion when overloads are detected and ensuring that only lowering the load is possible. The system also eliminates the need for load cells in many applications by monitoring the hook load during both acceleration and constant speed. Additionally, the auto-setup feature simplifies configuration by defining the hoist’s maximum hook load within seconds.

The IMPULSE G+ Mini is Magnetek’s most compact low HP drive to date. Its small size makes it ideal for use in smaller control enclosures, which in turn helps reduce installation costs. This design also expands its potential applications across a variety of smaller cranes, hoists, trolleys, and monorail carriers. The standard version comes with a 120VAC interface card, while optional versions include 24VAC, 48VAC, and 24VDC interfaces to suit diverse installation needs.

The IMPULSE G+ Mini is available in a wide range of horsepower options to cater to different load requirements. It offers ½ through 20 HP in 380-480V or ¼ through 20HP in 200-240V three-phase ratings, allowing for a tailored, cost-effective solution for low HP applications through Class D service. The drive utilizes Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology, delivering significant energy savings compared to traditional contactor technology, which benefits both operators and customers by reducing power consumption.

The Load Check II system ensures that when loads are “snagged” or near the rated capacity during low-speed operation, the lifting motion is paused, and the load is only allowed to lower. This safety feature enhances both operator safety and productivity by reducing the risk of equipment damage and ensuring compliance with load limits.

Energy Engineered™ for Cost Savings

Magnetek’s Energy Engineered™ technology ensures that all their motion control products, including the IMPULSE G+ Mini, are optimized for energy efficiency. By utilizing available power more effectively, the system reduces energy costs while maintaining reliable and precise control. This focus on energy efficiency not only lowers operational expenses but also helps reduce the environmental impact of overhead material handling equipment.

Built-in Reliability and Warranty

The IMPULSE G+ Mini is built with reliability in mind, designed and rigorously tested for the demanding conditions of overhead material handling applications. Both the hardware and software have been specifically developed to withstand the challenges of crane and hoist operations, ensuring long-term performance and durability. To back up its claims of reliability, the IMPULSE G+ Mini is covered by a three-year warranty, giving customers peace of mind in knowing their investment is protected.

Optional Flat Heat Sink Design

For applications where space is a premium, the IMPULSE G+ Mini offers an optional flat heat sink design that reduces the depth of the drive by up to 45%. Available for capacities ranging from ½ to 5 HP in 230-460V, this design is perfect for installations where compactness is critical. For applications outside of these specifications, it’s recommended to consult with the factory to determine the suitability of this option.
